Brand new for 2023! Hosting small Art & Well-being Retreats at Shambala Cottage in northern Alberta.

Located approx 2 hours north of Edmonton.

Suitable for 3-8 people, adjustable retreats to suit your needs.

Arrive on a Friday evening and enjoy a fireside gathering with complementary tea/coffee and cookies to chat about the weekend at Shambala.  Being so rural you'll love seeing all the stars at night!  Enjoy waking up the next day in nature, a stone's throw from the beautiful Athabasca river and the forest.

After brekky on Saturday we will do some artsy activities which will help you to relax and have fun - with lunch provided.  No art experience necessary.

There will also be some free time to relax, take a nap or a walk in nature.

Head back home early in the evening with lovely memories and a special art piece or two to remember your time at Shambala.

Rustic camping ...with cute outdoor privy - wooden outhouse with clean toilet, bench and sink facilities - to brush your teeth & have a wash and brush up, as well as clean potable water & basic cooking facilities provided (2 burner stove & hot water kettle).

Also electric plug-in's available to charge your devices.

Come for a fun weekend retreat and enjoy being out of the city or your local environment for a refreshing change of scene.

What to bring?

You'll need your camping stuff - a tent or small campervan, sleeping gear and clothes for all possible types of weather.  You'll also need to bring some food/drink for some meals and snacks, (tea/coffee and cookies are complementary and a healthy yummy lunch on Saturday is also provided).

There is a small pizza restaurant just a few minutes drive away.

If the weather is good we will be mostly outside, doing artsy and fun things together.  The schedule is always a bit loosey-goosey so that we can adjust according to the weather and the vibe of the hour! Eg, there might be a late night picnic under the stars on Friday night or a 'vision quest' walk down to the river on Saturday.  If the weather is not so great we can enjoy doing some art workshop activities in the funky studio.

If you're viewing this on a mobile phone, the drop down menu is the 3 little lines on the right side.  (It's easiest to navigate on a laptop though).   🙂

Every retreat participant gets a free mini oracle card reading if they'd like one!

Who would benefit from a Retreat like this?

Basically anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and abilities (sorry we are unable to cater for people with disabilities).  Especially recommended for people wanting a change of scene and a fun weekend with friends in the country.

Adjustable Retreats!

These retreats can be adjusted to suit you and your group's needs - simply get in touch to discuss options.  Use the 'contact me' page (or email me at and I can set up a zoom meeting so that we can meet and chat virtually to discuss possibilities. The average cost is $100 per person and this includes rustic camping accommodation, 1-2 art workshops - with all art supplies included - and we can chat about which kind artsy activities your group would most enjoy.

We could go for a 'vision quest' walk and find our special stick or river stone and come back into the studio and turn them into bohemian spirit sticks and painted rock keepsakes. Or perhaps a little mixed media art piece to uplift the spirit...

Plus there will be a lovely catered lunch on Saturday and (weather permitting) a relaxed fireside circle gathering on Friday evening (or inside the undercover studio) with free tea/coffee and cookies.

Intuitive Art Class

Acrylic painting and collage (mixed media) workshop

Saturday 29 April, 2023 at the Smith Community Center, Alberta

In this class you will learn how to begin a mixed media intuitive painting by learning how to create your first background layer using collaged papers and then adding some acrylic paint.

If you've never painted before don't worry, it will be easy to follow along with clear demo's and we will create together in a relaxed and enjoyable way.  I will teach you some painting basics as well a little bit of colour theory.  This means everyone can enjoy painting without worrying about making a mess!

Finishing time will vary depending how many are in the class.

To book your place, or if you have questions, simply text me (with your name) to 587 920 5930.

Note: If there is enough interest in this class, there will be some follow up classes offered so that you can learn more techniques on how to add layers to your intuitive mixed media painting.
